ESE Grants and Awards
ESE announces New Grants Model

Submissions close: 31 August
Winner announcement: by 31 December
The European Society of Endodontology awards annual grants to support basic research, clinical research, education and innovation in endodontics.
- Basic Research: Investigates fundamental scientific principles and mechanisms in endodontics to advance theoretical understanding.
- Clinical Research: Focuses on studies related to patient care to improve diagnosis, treatment or outcomes in endodontic practice.
- Education: Supports projects that improve endodontic education, including curriculum development, teaching methods, and educational tools.
- Innovation: Promotes new approaches and technologies in endodontics, fostering advances that challenge current practices or introduce novel solutions.

The grants provide financial support for outstanding projects in the specified categories, covering expenses for equipment or research in the field of endodontics. While more than one exceptional proposal may be funded each year, only one grant will be awarded per category. Submissions are open until 1st September. Applicants must follow the guidelines outlined below.
ESE Grants Regulations

- The ESE-Grant amount varies based on required resources but will not exceed €30,000. Institutional overheads are not covered, and payments are made only to institutions, not individuals.
- The exact source of additional funds required to complete the proposed research project, should be confirmed and detailed.
- Only one proposal per year may be submitted by an applicant.

- Successful applicants will receive 50% of the grant upon award. The remaining funds will be released upon reporting of specified milestones.
- Upon completion of the project, applicants must submit a final report to the ESE Administrator ([email protected]). An original scientific article to the International Endodontic Journal for first consideration for publication. The submission must follow the author guidelines.
Submission checklist

- Is the topic relevant and novel?
- Is the proposal well structured, with clear and concise language?
- Is the background and previous research in the field adequately described?
- Is the research question clearly stated?
- Does the study design effectively address the research question?
- Are the materials and methods described in sufficient detail and appropriate?
- Is the proposed budget reasonable and justified?
- Is the project timeline realistic?
- Does the applicant have the necessary competence to complete the proposed work?
- Is the research environment appropriate, with adequate support for the applicant?
- Is the applicant's role in the project clearly defined?
- How important is the ESE grant to the success of the project?
