Organised by the Estonian Endodontic Society, this two-day course by Paula Villa combines a comprehensive lecture programme with an intensive hands-on workshop, guiding participants through the principles and practice of modern endodontic microsurgery.

Covering case selection, treatment planning, surgical protocols, prognosis, and soft and hard tissue management, the course enables delegates to develop practical microsurgical skills using operating microscopes and anatomical models.

To ensure an optimal learning experience, the hands-on training is limited to 20 participants, divided into two small groups.

Course location: The lecture day will take place on 22nd April 2027 in Tallinn, followed by the practical session on 23rd & 24th of April 2027 at the Institute of Dentistry, University of Tartu.

MORNING — PLANNING & ACCESS

  08:30 – Arrival and morning coffee
  09:00 – The Surgical Mindset: Case Selection & Planning
  The foundations. Reading the case, defining the indication, CBCT-guided planning and anticipating anatomy.
  10:15 – Coffee break
  10:45 – Surgical Access: Flap Design, Osteotomy & Apicoectomy
  Principles of flap design, atraumatic osteotomy, and the apical resection: how much, at what angle, and why.
  12:15 – Lunch

AFTERNOON — SEALING & CLOSING

  13:15 – The Apical Seal: Root-End Preparation & Filling
  The heart of the procedure. Ultrasonic root-end cavity preparation, isthmus management, and choosing and placing the root-end filling material for a durable biological seal.
  14:45 – Coffee break
  15:15 – Suture Techniques
  Suture selection, techniques for predictable primary closure, and the small details that give you predictable recovery.
  16:00 – External Cervical Resorption
  Classification, treatment options and the surgical considerations.
  17:15–17:30 – Q&A
