Welcome to the ESE Website

The European Society of Endodontology (ESE) was created in 1982 from the existing European Academy of Endodontics. The Society was initially made-up of ‘active’ individual members but was re-structured in 2001 into a federal organisation representing national endodontic and dental societies throughout Europe and a new category of ‘Certified’ individual members. The ESE is now governed by a General Assembly made-up of country representative from each member society and managed by an Executive Board that currently consists of President, Claus Löst; Secretary, Paul Dummer; Treasurer, Hakki Sunay; and Chair of Education Committee, John Whitworth.

Today, the ESE is a vibrant and dynamic organisation that has 31 member societies from 28 European countries and represents over 6000 ordinary members and over 230 certified members.

The ESE is developing a number of exciting initiatives, including:

• Achieving specialist status for Endodontology within Europe.
• Developing an accreditation process within Europe for postgraduate taught programmes.
• Developing requirements for specialist status for individuals.
• Enhancing its communication with the profession, with dental companies and with its membership.
• Promoting education and scholarship within the speciality of Endodontology for the benefit of patients, dentists and students.
• Ensuring that it adopts best practice in terms of its governance arrangements.
• Investing in research and the support of young research workers.
• Enhancing further the ESE biennial congresses.
• Optimising clinical care for patients.
• Promoting standards in Undergraduate education.
